This October on the 26th and 27th, Bowhouse Farm will play host to the 2019 Scottish and European Vintage Ploughing Championships hosted by the Scottish and European Vintage Ploughing Championships Association.
This event is a great opportunity for you to learn a bit more about the Scottish ploughing techniques as well as seeing how technology has changed over the years. The event promotes and encourages all types of ploughing over the 2 days with 100 ploughers each day from modern, vintage, classic, horses, hortcultural. High cute, Ferguson and Juniors all making an appearance.
To watch the Ploughing Championships there will be an entry fee of £8 for adults, £6 for concessions, children under 14 free. This fee will be taken on the gates of the fields.
While the ploughing competition takes place outside on the grounds of Bowhouse, we will also be running our very own small food and drink market inside from 10am – 3pm both Saturday and Sunday where you will be able to find a great selection of some of our favourite local traders such as Flahute Coffee Company, The Wright Root. Market Gardeners, Minick of Anstruther, Langoustine the box , Barnett’s Bakery, St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company, Perthshire Preserves, Allan’s Chilli Products, Val’s Scottish Tablet Treats, Hometown Cheesecakes , Birken Tree, Coul Brewing Company, Kingsbarns Distillery & Visitor Centre, Tayport Distillery, Futtle Organic and Mill House. It will be free to enter the market at Bowhouse for the duration of this event.
